What were American children’s relationships with animals in the early nineteenth century? What issues did these earlier youths face that remain important? How did reading awaken them – and their parents – to vital ethical issues? Can children act as agents for social change? How might children’s literature help transform US society today? Please come and discuss these questions with Professor Kilcup, WGS’ Linda Arnold Carlisle Distinguished Exellence Professor.
